DevBlog March 2026: Summary of Broken Ranks Early Access on Android and a Bit About the New boss and Update

Hello, Taernians!

It’s time for the March Dev Blog! Especially since 24 days have already passed since the launch of the Polish Early Access of Broken Ranks on Google Play. And you know what? We have to admit - we expected a good start, but even so we were really surprised by the numbers. In a positive way, of course ;)

Numbers Speak Louder…

Let’s get to the point - that’s what you like most. We recently launched the Early Access regionally in Poland, and after just 24 days we’re about to hit 100,000 downloads, with the current Google Play rating holding steady at 4.8. Thank you so much for every review, every report, and every hour spent in Broken Ranks!

If needed, HERE you can find the FAQ for the Early Access of the Android version of Broken Ranks, which we will update as necessary. Below you’ll find aggregated statistics from Polish servers from the launch of the mobile version (March 3, 2026) until today. After all, Broken Ranks is a cross-platform MMORPG - PC and mobile players play together, so the data covers both platforms. How many quests you completed, how many bosses you defeated, and how many times you fell against stronger opponents - it’s all there.

Summary of the Polish Early Access of Broken Ranks on Google Play

One of our most important, if not the most important, goals for launching the mobile version was to awaken and reactivate dormant heroes. And here we have a reason to celebrate - thousands of veterans have returned to the world of Broken Ranks alongside the launch of new servers! Once a Taernian, always a Taernian, right? ;)

Following this trend, the number of daily active accounts has increased by over 60%. On Kaalor, around 2,000 players are online simultaneously during peak hours (with natural rotation, so the actual number of players logging in is much higher). There’s a lot to be happy about, because in this genre every single player matters.

And what makes us happiest - you’re actively playing both on PC and on your Android phones. That’s exactly what we wanted. Broken Ranks as a cross-platform MMORPG works, you like it, and it shows.

A few interesting facts:

  • Over 2,000 players who hadn’t logged in for more than a year have returned. More than 50% of them logged in directly on Android
  • Among them were 500 accounts created over 10 years ago
  • Accounts older than 10 years made up around 20% of our player base in the past month

Thank you!

We’ve always been proud that many other games could envy the level of engagement in our community - and that hasn’t changed to this day. Your activity, posts on our channels, reviews on Google Play, bug reports, and suggestions give us a huge boost of motivation! Seriously - it’s also thanks to you that this launch went so well.

Broken Ranks on Android – What Are We Working on Now?

Early Access in Poland is not the finish line - it’s a milestone on the way to the global launch of the mobile version of Broken Ranks. We’re glad you’ve said many times that the game is already in great shape and plays very smoothly, but… we’re not stopping here - there’s still a lot ahead of us! As you know, at launch some elements were unavailable or still in prototype form. Currently, we are focusing on:

  • further improvements to chats (better private message management and other fixes)
  • additional improvements to the Blacksmith
  • new Mail screens
  • revitalized Guild Land
  • adding missing Deposit features (the ability to communicate with and view other players present there)
  • reworking and modernizing gear skins
  • minor improvements to the combat HUD
  • the overhaul of Resting and Potions
  • the redesign of the Friends window and the friends system itself (which we’ll talk about in the next section)

In addition, we are continuously fixing reported issues, which fortunately aren’t too many ;) Every report we receive is analyzed.

Goodbye VIPs. Time for Favorites

Designing the mobile version gave us a good opportunity to revisit various elements that had become… well, let’s be honest - cumbersome or outdated.

We also know very well that there are more such areas. We are reviewing and modernizing them continuously - some are already designed, some are being implemented, and others are waiting their turn. Last month we brought up the topic of Resting and Potions as a starting point for discussion and we’re currently working through it internally.

In today’s DevBlog, we’re taking on another element.

In the upcoming update, the mobile version will receive a redesigned Friends screen, along with several changes… including a major one:

we’re saying goodbye to VIPs.

undefined

During the design process, we quickly concluded that the VIP system had become something of a relic. The process itself was illogical - to grant someone VIP status, you had to… invite them again, even if they were already on your friends list. On top of that, it was easy to accidentally remove the status, forcing you to repeat the entire process (including asking the same person to accept again :P ).

And what did VIP actually provide? Mainly access to a friend’s location - which wasn’t much of a game-changer. In practice, many players handled it “in bulk”: first friends, then immediately VIP - double the work with little benefit.

That’s why we chose a simpler and more natural solution:
instead of VIPs, we’re introducing Favorites

undefined

You will be able to simply mark friends as Favorites and that’s it. No invitations, no extra steps. This makes it easy to filter the people you want to stay in closer contact with.

And what about location? Every friend, regardless of whether they’re marked as a Favorite, will have their current location visible.

With the update, your VIPs will automatically be converted into Favorites. The changes will be introduced simultaneously on PC and mobile, along with several additional improvements:

  • [PC + mobile] new friend status: AFK (“Be right back”)
  • [PC + mobile] new layout - no more strange tiles, replaced with a clear table
  • [PC] pagination removed from this screen - scrolling replaces page switching (and yes, our designer is very eager to tackle other areas ;) )
  • [mobile] features split into separate tabs - cleaner, clearer, no clutter
  • [mobile] referral links moved from the Premium Store to Friends - a much more natural location

We’re continuously adding missing features to the mobile version while also making sure to improve both platforms during Early Access.

There’s still a lot of work ahead, but to be honest, we’re excited about this direction and we’re pushing forward!

A New Area

The mobile version isn’t the only thing we’ve been working on. At the same time, we’re developing the upcoming content update. We’d like to lift the veil just a little and perhaps whet your appetite. Just a little, though - we’re saving some things for later to make them even more exciting ;)

New Boss and Quest – Volkhard Is Coming

As previously announced, the upcoming update will introduce a new boss - and it definitely won’t be a walk in the park. From the start, we’re targeting the most experienced players at level 140. At that level, the variation in player strength is significant, so the minimum Might threshold will be around 20,000 or higher. We know you often ask about this, so we want to be clear: this will be a top-tier challenge.

However, the boss is only part of a larger whole. Alongside it, a new quest will be implemented, introducing the story of both the enemy and the location where events unfold.

Importantly, this won’t just be optional background lore. During the quest, you’ll gain a unique ability that allows you to partially understand the language of vampires. And this isn’t just a flavor element - it will have real use during combat in the instance, so it’s definitely worth completing the quest before your first attempt at the boss.

Drops – Time to Show Our Hand

Now let’s move on to what many of you care about most - rewards. We’re planning to introduce 4 new rare gear pieces that will drop from the boss.

We won’t keep it a secret - you quickly figure out our high-level drop patterns anyway, and with the current state of progression, the number of viable slots for Abyss rares is already quite limited. So here’s what you can expect:

  • 2x helmets:
    • one for magical classes,
    • one for physical classes.
  • 1x belt for physical classes.
  • 1x boots for magical classes.

undefined

All items will be intended for level 140 characters. But that’s not all. Just like with Sidraga rares, we plan to introduce a new unique property to these items, available exclusively from this boss’s drops. We’re not revealing details yet - we’re leaving that for you to discover. :)

Boss Entry System

You’re probably wondering whether the boss can be farmed without limits. As with the Sidraga instance, we believe unlimited access isn’t a good solution. In practice, it quickly removes the sense of progression, initial excitement fades, the instance becomes overfarmed, and rewards rapidly lose value.

However, this time we’re approaching it differently. Instead of requiring a daily token, we’re introducing a weekly limit - every Wednesday, you’ll receive 7 attempts for the entire week. This will be a strict limit, and for now reset scrolls will not bypass it. This should spread the FOMO effect across the week and avoid clashing with the Monday rush around Weekly Challenges.

You’ll collect the entry tokens once per week, but preparing them will require gathering components.

The first of these will be Grandmaster Glyphs, allowing us to adjust their economy. Until now, they were mainly used in crafting Legends, but now they will gain additional use and importance in accessing the boss.

The second component will come from a daily quest. However, if you don’t have time or simply don’t feel like doing it, you won’t miss out. Individual components can be purchased from other players. This is also a good option for those not yet strong enough for the instance - they can earn gold by selling the components to more advanced players.

The daily quest will immerse you in the atmosphere surrounding the boss and his impact on the game world - it will show how strongly his presence affects reality and why defeating him requires more than just strength.

The Order of the Forgotten Dawn is constantly searching for more effective methods of fighting vampires. This requires obtaining valuable components from vampiric spawn - and that’s where you come in. You will have to hunt an elusive creature, obtain its organs, and play the alchemist to extract at least a few drops of vampire blood. The only substance capable of cutting through illusions that deceive the senses and drive mad anyone who ventures into the monastery’s darkness unprepared.

To avoid price chaos and potential abuse, at the moment of publishing this blog all Grandmaster Glyphs have been removed from the Marketplace on every server. We want to ensure fairness for all players - without situations where someone gains or loses purely due to prior speculation.

This is just the beginning. New challenges and further improvements to the mobile version of Broken Ranks are becoming increasingly visible on the horizon. More details soon. In the meantime… prepare your builds, because the new boss won’t forgive mistakes.
