Second Community Update Incoming!

Hello Taernians!

The next update is quickly approaching. And it’s not just any update! This time, the main goal is to improve the quality of playing and experiencing Broken Ranks - we focused mainly on the suggestions you so eagerly share with us on our Discord server. On September 9th, you’ll get almost 60 improvements and features that will enhance QoL in various areas! Want to learn more about the most important of them? Read on.

Our main objective was solving some of the issues that are quite complicated to implement. We followed your wishes and focused mostly on the features that are important to you. Of course, we see more potential areas that we can and will be improved - they’ll be the cornerstones of future optimizations. Our MMORPG is an endless road full of adventures for you and a constant enhancement process for us.

In this update, we will improve the way gear and items are moved. You drew our attention to the fact that dragging various items from one window to another and searching equipment tabs is strenuous and uncomfortable. We decided to tweak some things to make the process faster and easier:

  • you will be able to move gear and items to the other open window simply by clicking RMB,
  • there’ll be a keyboard shortcut to move a whole stack of items without the window to choose the amount popping up,
  • in the deposit, the open equipment tab will no longer go back to page one if you click another deposit,
  • in store tabs, you will no longer need to drag items like manamers or inhibitors from the backpack to the dedicated slot - this will be done automatically. You’ll also have the option to buy the items there, without needing to go back to the buying tab, to fill in the gaps. ;)

Another thing that frequently came up in your suggestions was the issue of charging gear. We completely overhauled this feature. In the new system, we’ll no longer use percentages when charging. Instead, every essence will add a set number of charges depending on the rank of the gear (meaning that you’ll need more essences to charge a piece of gear with a high rank and fewer essences to charge low-rank gear pieces). What will happen to inhibitors? They’ll increase the number of charges added and let you bypass the upper limit to which you can charge your gear without them. In other words, you can charge your gear even for another year. ;)

The next solution implemented in the update concerns resetting attributes and skills. You clearly indicated the need for an edit mode where you can add points without fearing you’d make a mistake. We decided to make the whole process much more user-friendly by simply implementing this mode. You’ll be able to distribute attribute and skill points in any way you like without consequences and the cost will be paid only when you accept the new build. In addition to that, resetting will no longer cause gear to be unequipped and Tactics to be reset - this will happen only with gear and skills you lose access to due to the changes in your build.

In this update, we’ll also let you use some features in combat that were previously unavailable there. Thanks to this, you’ll be able to check the marketplace, friends list, letters, ranking, and guild.

As for major changes that actually affect gameplay, we decided to eliminate two issues present in PvE fights.
The first one is losing potential rewards in a situation where the player and the opponent die at the same time. We understand that this could make you feel treated unjustly (especially when facing bosses) and leave you only with sadness and the bitterness of defeat in your heart. After the update, this will no longer be the case - if both you and the opponent are affected by a DoT, only the one on the mob will take effect. The same will be true for shields that deal damage. In addition to that, if your pet is left alone in combat, its attacks and DoTs on the opponent will be canceled - there won’t be a situation where your pet does you dirty and finishes off the boss. ;)
The other element is exhaustion animations - we decided to reduce their number and leave only one “curtsy” per each attack type. For example, using a single-target ranged attack (e.g. Fireballs) will reduce the number of exhaustion animations to one while using a single-target ranged attack and an AoE ranged attack (e.g. Rain of Fire and Sparks) will reduce it to two. Thanks to this, if you use five attacks of the same type, you won’t have to wait a very long time for the exhaustion animations to finish.

We will also implement a number of other solutions that will increase your play comfort. Here are some of them: we’ll add an icon showing you that your backpack is almost full, we’ll make sure that the Sidraga and Tarul instances cannot be entered with fewer players than necessary, we’ll add a counter of sets, synergetics, drifs, and epics in the achievements, we’ll add a store to the Garrison... And, while we’re at it, we’ll add some stairs to Beirn and remove the cart from the Frozen Lake. ;)

Apart from that, we’ll also introduce some improvements to various instances - their main goal is to improve your quality of gameplay. We’ll be altering aspects such as the place you are sent to after exiting or dying (e.g. you won’t need to traverse several areas to get back to the Specters ;)) and providing small improvements to mob AI, their placement, and mechanics.

And finally, good news for those playing on Thalia and Pavar - this update will let you transfer your characters from Thalia to Wyvern and from Pavar to Naravar.

Of course, a full list of changes will be available in the changelog. Don’t forget to take a look as soon as it’s available. Adventure awaits!
