As previously announced, another big update is quickly approaching. It’ll introduce a new area that will hopefully make your everyday gameplay even more fun and let you immerse yourselves in its atmosphere. One thing is certain - the update’s coming in hot. ;)
On January 14th, we’ll introduce a new content update. The exact time will be communicated on our social media channels. Once the update is implemented and the servers are up, the client will automatically download the changes.
Here’s what you can expect:
- new, fiery area - Hvar’s Wastelands
- new opponents, including champions and an elite
- new activities - tasks, a dynamic event, and a daily quest
- a new instance with Hvar as the main boss
- new rare gear
- new boss-specific quest
And, in addition to the above, a two-layered world map that will allow you to switch to a separate Thalia map.
Enter the heart of the volcano and face its master
Flames bring doom… but also unexpected gifts.
Learn the history of Vendar, a master smith of Laerdmor who, due to a tragic accident, lost everything that was dear to him. However, Hvar, the lord of the volcano, couldn’t let the talented man lose himself in his grief. He gave him a special gift and a new purpose in life. Alas, everything has a price…
Enter the realm of Hvar. Help Vendar stand by the side of the lord of the volcano and make him realize his gift is also a curse. Challenge the master of the Wastelands or acquire the blessing of his fire. If you are deemed worthy of it, of course…
Remember: the quest Shadow of the Flame can be taken from Zenlin in Hvar’s Wastelands if you are level 90 or higher.
Discover Hvar’s Wastelands!
Grim news coming from Northern Alaril makes you leave the snowy passes of Dmorther to venture west of the Garrison. During the long journey, the cold, mountain air slowly thickens with sulfuric fumes while brownish dust clouds the sun. Soon, you see the source - a volcano looms in the distance. At its foot, you notice an ashen desert criss-crossed by fiery chasms and streams of lava. Welcome to the domain of Hvar – the savior and doom of Alaril.
After a moment, an Alarilian outpost bars your way and when you cross its threshold, it becomes obvious that it isn’t meant to protect against threats from the outside but to contain the monstrosities of the Wastes. However, creatures born in the volcano, woven from living flame aren’t enough to frighten adventurers, businessmen, and knowledge-hungry mages.
What do you need to know? You can get to the new area via the Dmorther Garrison. The boss instance can be accessed through the volcano. Suggested levels are 90-130 for the Path of Adventure and 120-140 for the Path of Challenge.
*This is a solo instance.

Scorias
The origins of these fiery insectoids are shrouded in mystery. Some believe that Hvar created them from the fauna of Alaril, which he corrupted with his fire, others say that they entered our world through the Anomaly hidden deep in the heart of the volcano. One thing is certain - they’re deadly and their razor-sharp appendages tore to shreds many adventurers who dared venture into the Wastelands.
Torched Souls
Warriors who desire power can give their lives to Hvar to acquire his blessing. The lord of the volcano purifies them of all human weaknesses and equips them with volcano-forged blades. Torched Souls are relentless, don’t feel pain or fatigue, but pay a terrible price for this - they become mindless puppets of Hvar and protect his domain waiting for the day when he will lead their legions to conquer the world.
Embers and Lavias
Ethereal priestesses of Hvar, woven of lava, guard the secrets of the volcano. They also usher pilgrims who come to give their lives to the master of the wastelands and prepare them for the transformation. Their supernatural beauty has lulled many an adventurer who refused to bend the knee to Hvar and ended up as a pile of charred bones.
And that’s just the beginning of the dangers that await you…
Don’t give in to fear as the heart of the volcano also holds rare gear that haven’t seen the light of day until now.
By defeating the main boss, you have a chance to loot:
- World Shatterer (two-handed axe)
- Scornaxes (magical vambraces)
- Furions (physical vambraces)
- Hvarions (physical gloves).
**The required level for the gear is 90 and 95.

What’s next?
As we promised, we’re working on an update plan for 2025. The plan will dictate and show you the direction we want Broken Ranks to go.
