RECENT NEWS:

Forefathers’ Eve 2023!

Let the Lyrist’s tale be carried across the land. The rituals of Forefathers’ Eve will begin soon - hurry up, the clock is ticking! The tormented souls will need your help, so make sure you have time to spare on November 3rd. End the eternal wandering of the penitents and get a lot of rewards and experience for you and your pets!

“All is quiet, all is gloom.
What beings in the darkness loom?”

The time has come for the living to aid those who could not cross the threshold of the afterlife… Their penance and eternal wandering are finally coming to an end. Go on, good people, go on – it is time for witchcraft, do not tarry. Prepare for the rites of Forefathers’ Eve.

Duration
Forefathers’ Eve will last 30 hours, starting on November 3rd (6:00 PM CET).

At 9:00 AM CET, a new NPC will appear in various areas. The Lyrist will be the herald of the event. Speak to him to immerse yourselves in its atmosphere. Remember that the main part of the event (lasting 30 hours) will start at 6:00 PM CET.

Rewards and Activities
The rules are simple. Sharpen your weapons and refill mana because you will be facing off against countless undead. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done for them anymore. There are, however, souls that can yet be redeemed… with your help, of course.

Some foes possess items craved by the suffering souls that appear on the maps again and again. From Drowned Man, Arsonist, Thief and Taernian Deserter, you will learn what they need to finally find redemption. For redeeming souls on maps dedicated to your level range, you will be awarded event points. After a certain time, you will be given gold, experience, and psychoexperience for them.

*NPCs cannot be given items outside of the right level range. Please pay attention to the item descriptions.

Items and NPCs accepting them:

  • Drowned Man – an Oar,
  • Arsonist – a Bucket of Water,
  • Thief – a Coin,
  • Taernian Deserter – a Taernian Sword.

A variety of rewards will be granted for returning the items – boss entries, utility items, and various currencies. Additionally, you’ll earn a lot of experience for defeating the enemies.

For levels 140, a special experience-to-psychoexperience converter will be enabled (it will be applied only to event mobs in the 110-140 level range and to the event completion rewards).

Locations and level ranges:

  • Fishermen Village, Trentis Hamlet – levels 1-19,
  • Bandit Forest, Swamp - levels 20-39,
  • Alaril, de Vries Estate – levels 40-65,
  • Khold Forest, Orc Forest - levels 66-89,
  • Khold Mountains, Dmorther Ravine, Plateau – levels 90-109,
  • Garrison, Frozen Lake, Beirn – levels 110-140.

Once an event stage is complete, elite mobs with extra rewards will spawn on those maps.

Furthermore, two event achievements will be available:

  • for the number of event enemies defeated,
  • for the number of items returned to NPCs.

We hope that many suffering souls will be helped and sent to the afterlife. We wish everyone a lot of fun, a great dose of experience, and deposits brimming with useful items.

Changes versus the previous edition
Last year, you gave us a lot of positive feedback, but you also had some comments and suggestions. We made sure to write down all you needed and implemented the changes you requested. We hope that you’ll be having even more fun than the last time thanks to this!

Let’s get to the point - we focused mainly on improving the event for low level characters. From what you told us, it was clear that the ranges are too wide, so for many players in the upper portion of a range the rewards weren't too exciting (especially the experience from mobs). In addition to that, the items to be given to the NPC had a lower droprate at lower levels, which you also noticed and didn’t like. With the changes this year, we want to make sure the low levels have as much fun as the high levels. However, this doesn’t mean that the high levels won’t see any changes - I’m sure you’ll be delighted to learn that now there’s a psychoexperience reward for completing a stage. ;) The full list of changes is below!

  • Increased the number of level ranges from 4 to 6.
  • Changed the maps where the event takes place at levels 1-89 (be sure to check out the list in the first part of the article!).
  • New Tormented Skeletons and elite mobs for levels 20-39 i 66-89 - power and reward adjustment. The rest stays the same as far as power and party composition go. Tormented Skeletons will remain unchanged also as far as experience goes.
  • Restricted the ability to attack Tormented mobs from ranges lower by at least two than the player’s one (for example, a level 120 character will be able to attack mobs from the 90-109 and 110-140 level ranges). The ability to attack elites remains the same - only characters from their range can do it.
  • Equalized the droprate of items at every level range to the droprate at the highest level range (which remains the same).
  • Changes and adjustments to the rewards given for returning items: [LINK].
  • Changes to the elites appearing at the end of every stage and the implementation of a mechanic that guarantees a reward for every slot.
  • Changes and adjustment to the experience and gold rewards at the end of every stage for characters level 1-89. The rewards in the highest two ranges will remain as they are now.
  • Added psychoexperience reward for completing a stage at every range except for 1-19.
  • Added an experience-to-psychoexperience converter for characters level 140 who complete a stage in the 110-140 range. The converter will also be applied to the mobs (just like last year).
  • Increased the number of Tormented mobs on some maps.
  • Added the Lyrist in Trentis once the Forefathers’ Eve event is complete. He will let you exchange your items for rewards (only for your level range) if you didn’t return them during the event. He will disappear after 24 hours.
  • Decreased the duration of the final stage of the event so that it doesn’t end without giving out rewards when players collect a lot of points. In practice, the next stage may still be displayed but its duration will be only a couple of seconds.

In addition to that, we investigated every mechanism and many lines of code and we have finally found the cause of some stages freezing (which happened twice on Thanar last year). However, it’s a very rare and complicated situation that simply cannot be replicated in the testing environment. Although we’re almost sure it won’t happen again, there are no guarantees. We added additional logs to make sure we identify the issue if it occurs despite all our efforts. Moreover, we significantly increased the number of people who can fix this if it happens, so let us know on Discord when it does.

See you at the event!
