The Other Side - a new chapter of the Taernian storyline
The reports proved more unsettling than we had thought… In the Utorian Citadel, they’re keeping a prisoner whose identity is shrouded in mystery. Utorians are doing everything they can to hide who he is… and what he’s working on. One thing is certain: he’s imprisoned too deep to be a mere pawn.
Our spies managed to find only scraps of information. They say it might be a new weapon capable of decisively crushing the Taernian resistance and perhaps even threaten the Haligardian Empire. But maybe it’s just a rumor, a bait meant to lure the resistance out of hiding and deal with it once and for all.
The stakes are too high so you can’t ignore this. You must find the answers. Thoughts assail you… A frontal attack on the Citadel? That’s suicide. Ignoring the reports? The success of the cause, your life and the lives of your companions are at stake. There’s only one option left: infiltrate the other side.
Taernian in Utor’s clothing
In The Other Side, a big storyline-oriented update to Broken Ranks, a dangerous game of smoke and mirrors awaits you. You’ll become a rank and file recruit of the Utorian army, learn about the everyday life of the soldiers, the chain of command, and a complicated network of relationships and ambitions that may become an opportunity… or your doom.
You’ll be an eye-witness to the experiments of Utorian archmages. Nay, you’ll get to places where the light of magic brands one with memories that would surely leave many a mark on ordinary, untrained minds.
Every passing day in the Utorian mask will be a trial of cunning, strength, will, and resistance to temptations. Train, fight, and live among the enemy. Gather information and discover their plans.
World through the eyes of the enemy
Broken Ranks: The Other Side isn’t just places you know from Shadow of Hope. It’s also new, shrouded in mystery or even unsettling locations, each of which is important to the story. You’ll visit:
- the Gray Alleys
- the Utorian barracks
- and even the dark Citadel
That’s not all. You’ll also discover secrets hidden in the ruins of Thalia and witness the final moments of the city from… a completely different perspective.
Three steps into the Utorian darkness
The Other Side adds three very complex quests to the main storyline, thanks to which you’ll learn more about the fate of Taernians fighting for their lost homeland.
Varnik in the Remnant Hideout in Thalia will tell you about the new, secret mission if you are at least level 70 and have completed the previous quest Return.
In addition to that, two daily quests taking place in the new areas await you. They can be taken from Varnik and Zorim.
Talk like them, move like them - look like them

With the update, you’ll also get themed skins that reflect the aesthetics of the Utorian army and the atmosphere of the new content. For now, we’ll add the helmet (Helmet of the Silent) and body armor (Body Armor of the Silent), but we’ll be adding the missing parts of the Armor of the Silent set over time.

You can obtain the helmet by completing every quest from this part of the story while the body armor can be bought in the Premium Store.
