Greetings, Taernians!
Another year has passed, and on January 25th we’ll be celebrating the fourth anniversary of Broken Ranks. It’s been a year full of new features, changes, fixes, and ideas - many of which were born directly from your suggestions. As they say, there were highs and lows, but one thing has never changed: Broken Ranks is first and foremost you - the community without which this game would not be what it is today. So let’s celebrate together!
Not everyone has been able to follow every event along the way, so let’s start with a short recap and revisit the most important moments.
Last year started with a really hot update. Rumors coming from all directions lured us west of the Garrison. We left behind the snow-covered passes of Dmorther, while the icy mountain air slowly thickened with sulfurous fumes. The wastelands of Hvar opened before us - we ventured into the heart of the volcano to finally confront its master. We’re glad to see that this land continues to attract fans of truly hot climates to this day. :)
We also introduced the Rage mechanic. You knew those moments all too well: a solid round, decent percentages… and yet the attacks just wouldn’t land. Frustration grew faster than a mana bar after resting. We decided to acknowledge that frustration and give it a practical use. That’s how Rage was born - a mechanic that allows you to turn combat frustration into an advantage on the battlefield. Unlucky rounds stopped hurting quite as much, and emotions finally began working in your favor.
No summary of the past year would be complete without The Other Side, a continuation of the main storyline. From that point on, you moved like shadows, disguised as enemies. Yes - Broken Ranks gained a touch of espionage atmosphere, and for the first time we showed a fragment of the world through the eyes of a Utorian invader.
And that wasn’t all. Among major and minor updates, Community Updates, and various patches, we ended the year with a bang.

The result? Trials of the Lodge which, admittedly, proved to be quite a trial for us as well. A completely new roguelite-inspired mode arrived in the game, offering a hefty dose of challenge, unpredictability, and decisions that must be made on the fly. Many of you took up the challenge. Was it easy? Probably not. Was it satisfying? We do hope so!

If you’re an active player who logged in during the last 30 days, you’ll receive 7 bonus days of premium. If you already have premium, it will be automatically extended by another 7 days. The bonus premium time will be added on January 25th.

Birthday the Khold Way – Return to the Dive
You know what happens when khold moonshine hits too hard…
Khold Birthday is back and there’s no room for boredom. Expect brutal fights and plenty of fun.
Go to the Barker (found in hubs such as Trentis, Alaril, Khemenak, Thalia, the Garrison, and Beirn) to receive your Chips. If you’re ready, ask him to take you to the Dive. There, Gzergr will explain the rules and the rest is up to you.
Since last year’s strongest opponent, the Puppet Master, has fallen, we’ve added a brand-new, even stronger enemy party to the Dive. Prepare yourselves and face it to win not only the usual rewards and eternal glory but also a unique skin! Glow or Kaishi will be given to every member of the party that finishes all the waves in the Dive on their server in the shortest time during this year’s celebration. The two difficulty versions of the Dive are separate challenges, so there’s nothing standing in the way of getting both skins (well, except the difficulty ;))!
Remember, this is a quest, so you’ll find it in the appropriate quest log tab.

Weapons with Character – New Skins
If you feel like refreshing your look and giving your weapons a bit more personality, we’ve got good news. Six brand-new weapon skins are coming to the shop, so everyone should find something they like. Sometimes all it takes is a new look for your weapon to make victories feel even sweeter.
The new skins will be available for a limited time: from January 23rd, 10 AM server time to January 30th, 10 AM server time. This time, they’ll feature particle effects. Additionally, during this period, all older skins with particle effects will be available at a 10% discount.
That’s not all!
From now on, you’ll be able to freely apply skins within the same weapon category. For example, a one-handed sword skin can be applied to a one-handed hammer or axe (and the same applies to two-handed weapons). This works only with premium skins and doesn’t apply to morphing.

Additional Birthday Attractions in Broken Ranks
As every year, we’re not stopping at just one event. You can also expect:
- January 23rd, 10 AM server time – increased spawn rate of Platinum Chests, lasting until January 26th, 10 AM server time
- January 29th, 8 PM server time – reset of entry cooldowns for all difficulties of Selena and Aqua Regis, along with cooldown resets for:
- purchasing a Time Crystal at the lowest price
- purchasing a Time Sliver at the lowest price
- purchasing a Ring of Transportation at the lowest price and claiming the free one
- claiming free Crampons
- purchasing Reinforced Crampons
- January 31st and February 1st, 5 PM server time to 7 PM server time – Happy Hours with increased experience and psychoexperience (if a tournament is scheduled on your server during these times, it will be moved to the end of the list).
