As we previously announced, we’re preparing a huge batch of changes to the Trials of the Lodge! Below you’ll see some of the improvements we’re planning to implement in the upcoming update. Remember that a detailed list of changes will be published in the changelog!
- Going down a tier
- Rewards depending on the level (up to level 139) or Might (at level 140)
- Buffs and debuffs - less random
- Face of Death - simplified rules
- Aspects for all mobs
- Stun limit in solo Trials
Just so everything is clear - entries will refresh on Monday and we’re not planning any extra resets.
The update will go live on February 11th.
Going down a Tier
From now on, if you are a high enough level, the higher tier will unlock but no one will force you to go there - the automatic advancement will be disabled. If you want to stay at a lower tier, go ahead.
Rewards Depending on the Level or Might
First of all, aithars will be distributed in a more optimal way - there will be fewer at the beginning and more in later rooms. The Trial of the Masters will undergo the most important change: the first 10 rooms will give you more or less the same number in total as previously but each subsequent one will give you much higher rewards compared to the old system. In the other Trials of the Lodge, the total number of aithars for a full clear will remain almost the same.
The base droprates have also been updated - there’ll be fewer rares and set pieces, and more synergetics and drifs. In addition to that, we also increased the average droprate on Arenas 11-16 in the Trial of the Masters. Our goal? There are several of them. Most of all, we want the Trials you spend the most time on to give you relatively higher rewards than those that you have on farm mode. The second issue is the loot itself. With the current popularity of the Trials (and our data shows that you’re very eager to play in this mode), we noticed that the supply of rares and level 100 set pieces increased significantly. In the long term, this may disrupt the economy and deflate the price of resources that are its indicators (e.g. shards/essences/platinum). To prevent this, we are switching some things in the droprates so that you can still earn a good amount and get more varied rewards.
What else as far as rewards go? If your level or Might significantly exceeds the recommended one for the Trial (applies to Trials from Novice to Tracker), you’ll get less experience, loot, and psychoexperience. Apart from that, the system will take into account your Might because, after all, the fact that you’re level 140 doesn’t say everything about your power level. The game will check your maximum Might every week (without guild buffs and other temporary enhancements). Based on this, the system will calculate your droprates and the number of other rewards in the Trials of the Lodge (experience, psychoexperience, aithars).
As for experience and psychoexperience, we’ll implement some significant changes:
- Solo Trials: experience gains in each bracket will be decreased while in the 35-54 bracket we will also lower the gains from the chest in the starred room. On the other hand, we’ll increase psychoexperience gains in the 35-54, 55-74, and 75-109 brackets. It’ll remain unchanged in the 110-139 and 140 brackets.
- Party Trials: we will increase experience gains in all brackets and psychoexperience gains in the 35-54 and 55-74 brackets. Psychoexperience gains will also be nerfed in the 75-109, 110-139, and 140 brackets.
Buffs and Debuffs - Less Random
We have made slight balance changes to the buff and debuff system. Resistances (physical, elemental, and mental) as well as the debuff that increases the resistances of mobs will go from percentage value to point value. In practice, this means that these effects will be normalized and more predictable.
In addition to that, we improved their random generation - the more beneficial buffs will appear more frequently while debuffs will be less random.
Face of Death - Simplified Rules
We have cleaned up the Face of Death mechanic to make it clearer.
- If you have a debuff from the previous round, and the enemy debuffs you fully and then casts Face of Death - Face of Death will be used no matter the tactic.
- During solo Trials, enemies can cast a maximum of one Face of Death per turn even if their tactic contains more.
- If you’re starting a round without any debuffs required for Face of Death and a mob uses a tactic that would fully debuff you and end on Face of Death, FoD will change to Energy Jolt - the Jolt will only affect you if you are fully debuffed for FoD.
Aspects for All Mobs
All regular mobs (including quest ones) will receive an aspect. Thanks to this, you’ll be able to use Infusions on them, of course within the Might limits.
However, regular mobs won’t give you mastery points - they will still only be obtainable from elites, champions, and bosses.
Stun Limit in Solo Trials
Yes, solo Trials will have a limit of 2 rounds for stuns and freezes. We don’t want a situation where one unlucky stun lasts so long that it means game over.
See you with the new rules on February 11th!
