What happened at TaernCon 2025?

Hello everyone!

This is Hellvard, one of your quest designers. Now that emotions and elixir levels in our blood have slightly settled, it’s time to sum up this year’s edition of TaernCon. How did the cosplayers perform, and why couldn’t one of them get on stage? Who dominated in the PvP tournament, and who won the BR knowledge quiz? You’ll find all the answers in the report below.

TaernCon 2025, just like the previous one, took place in Czasoprzestrzeń – a former tram depot transformed into a stage for cosplayers and a PvP combat arena. We liked the location so much last time that we didn’t see a reason to look for a new one. And it paid off – since our crew already knew the venue, organizing the event went really smoothly, and many of you praised us for that both on Discord and during the convention itself.

That said, I’ll admit we were a bit nervous at first – attendance broke records once again. In addition to convention veterans, lots of new faces showed up, and in total, over 600 people had fun at Czasoprzestrzeń.

Attendees, Stage

After all the attendees had been ushered into the hall to the sound of a drummer and a violinist, the event was officially kicked off. Our irreplaceable host Dawid welcomed the crowd, and after a short opening by our founding fathers – Drygu, Torgerd, and Pan Tomasz – we moved on to one of the most anticipated parts of every TaernCon: the cosplay contest.

Creators, Stage

This year, it exceeded all our expectations – both in the number of participants and the quality of their creations. While some may debate the jury’s decision regarding second or third place, the clear winner was LeśnySsak in a Construct costume. Though it wasn’t a 1:1 scale, the sheer size of the outfit made it impossible for him to get on stage. LeśnySsak swept the competition – he received top marks from all the judges, the viewers’ choice award from the stream, and a gaming monitor.

Cosplay, Contest

Second place went to Enden as a Fire Mage, looking like he’d walked straight out of the game – he was awarded Sony headphones. Third place went to Ryzzer for his portrayal of the Torched Soul from the Hvar’s Wastelands – he received a Huawei smartwatch.

Mages, Cosplay

Other well-known characters such as Sidraga, Kadri, and Tit also made appearances, alongside fully original creations like Ilaaj Soror – Valdarog’s sister. If you didn’t get to see them in person, be sure to catch the recording of the convention stream. And speaking of that...

It was hosted by the duo of Szeszej and Pontonik, who made sure their audience stayed entertained during breaks in the official program.

Interviews, TaernCon

Viewers could vote for their favorite cosplay, listen to interviews with our game designer Cassi and server admin Srebrna, and even watch the hosts craft a flask live on stream – yes, really.

Throughout the event, attendees could recharge at food trucks and bars. The hungry were treated to burgers, toasted baguettes, and hot dogs, while the thirsty could sample elixirs like “Hvar’s Breath” and “Concoction of Stamina and Vitality.” And that wasn’t all – everyone found something to their taste.

Attendees, Group

Our “Trentis Stall” – a gadget store – stayed open until the very end of the convention. I ran it alongside our producers, Wojtek and Marcinse, and our programmer, Becken. This year, we expanded the selection with items like caps, keychains, and zip-up hoodies. The biggest hit? T-shirts featuring Ember – they sold like hotcakes.

Gadgets, Shop

After the cosplay contest, we surprised attendees with a teaser of the upcoming BR update. If you missed it and enjoy dark vibes, definitely check out the stream recording – you’re in for a treat.

Next on the agenda was a Q&A session, where Drygu and our game designer Daro answered questions from both attendees and stream viewers. Among other things, people learned about the Druid’s buff status, the timeline for the pet reform, and whether the max level cap might be increased in the future.

Q&A, Session

PvP hype was doubled this year, as we hosted not one but two tournaments. The first, “The Battle for Reach”, featured well-known Broken Ranks YouTubers. Fridriś beat Galajus 3:0, and Szami also took down AdrianOfficial 3:0. In the final match, Fridriś won against Szami with a 3:1 score.

Tournament, Players

The winner earned 20,000 platinum to give away to their viewers.

During the break between PvP tournaments, we hosted the Broken Ranks knowledge quiz. The first stage was open to all attendees, who answered questions via phone. The five top scorers who made it to the on-stage final were Borderkicia, Wkurzak, WeyooX, MoodFor, and Szpeju. And here came a major plot twist – Szpeju didn’t show up despite multiple calls. This gave Ciubinio, who had just missed the cut, a chance to step in – and he ended up winning the entire quiz! He was followed by Wkurzak in second place and Borderkicia in third. Stream viewers also took part, and Złypanmroku emerged as the winner on that front. All winners received some solid loot – physical prizes and platinum.

The second PvP tournament featured players randomly selected from a pool of pre-registered volunteers: Macióś, Matriś, Kicurek, and Baloczi.

Competitors, PvP

The final was a Voodoo vs. Voodoo showdown, with Macióś defeating Kicurek. The third-place match was close, but in the end, Matriś’s Fire Mage bested Baloczi’s Archer. All participants received commemorative T-shirts, while the top three won platinum and physical prizes: a SteelSeries mouse for Matriś, a Genesis keyboard for Kicurek, and JBL headphones for Macióś.

Winners, PvP

Though the tournament was the final scheduled event, the party was far from over. After the official part wrapped up, we moved to the afterparty in the adjacent hall. A good number of diehard Taernians made it all the way to 3 AM, and some even kept the fun going out on the town until sunrise.

Location, Night

That’s a wrap! Thanks for joining us and having fun together. It’s a shame TaernCon always flies by so fast – it’s such a rare chance to meet the people we know from in-game nicknames and chat about what you’d like to see in BR next. It’s also pure joy to watch you meet your guildmates in real life for the first time or passionately argue over which class is superior.

Perhaps the best testament to how TaernCon brings people together is that so many of you have been coming for years – because you can’t imagine July without this annual reunion with server friends.

Participants, TaernCon Cosplayers, Fans

To sum things up, I want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who helped organize this Taernian holiday: the Whitemoon crew, the server team, and most of all our event manager Marlena – who, like a seasoned sailor, steered the TaernCon ship safely through all organizational storms.

Team, TaernCon

See you at TaernCon 2026!
